The bigger the base dmg and crit rate of a move, the stronger buffs, quirks and trinket boosts become. All of them also have stellar critical rate (7 to 10% base crit chance at max level.) On champion, attacks like the MaA's Crush, Wicked Slice, Wicked Hack, Iron Swan or Sacrificial stab will "at worst" reduce a monster to half or a third of its hp when they don't outright kill it with a crit/buffed character.

Even in the best case scenario where you get great rolls with normal attacks, the damage output is so weak in comparison.

There's no argument to be had when you look at the maths. I can't really comment on the Darkest Dungeon yet, but in every other dungeon except maybe the Ruins, DoTs are objectively superior. Corpses are completely irrelevant with a setup that can cover rows properly.ĭoTs work okay in regular dungeons, even though raw damage remains superior, but in the Darkest Dungeon, I will bet on reliable damage output, there is just to much attrition going on. My battles are finished before the 3rd or 4th turn, they dont have time to do that much damage.
